  9. All     - Selects all filenames and directories in the current
  10.           directory or ZIP file that satisfy the INCLUDE and 
  11.           EXCLUDE patterns.
  12.  
  13. CLEAR -   De-selects all filenames and directories in the current
  14.           directory or ZIP file.
  15.  
  16. COPY    - Copies all selected files from the current directory to the
  17.           destination specified in the DESTINATION window.  Dates,
  18.           protection attributes and comments are also copied.  If the
  19.           file already exists in the DESTINATION directory and has
  20.           the same date and time, it is skipped.
  21.           
  22.           There is one exception to this: if the DESTINATION  is the 
  23.           same as the SRC directory, then you have the opportunity
  24.           to provide a new name for the destination file.
  25.  
  26.           Copy is fully recursive and will copy all files and 
  27.           subdirectories from a selected directory.  Any files in
  28.           subdirectories will be copied only if they pass the
  29.           filters.
  30.  
  31. DELETE  - Deletes all selected files (or directories) in the current 
  32.           directory or ZIP file.  This function will prompt for 
  33.           confirmation before proceeding.
  34.  
  35.           WARNING: Delete is fully recursive and will delete all
  36.           files and subdirectories found in any selected directory.
  37.           Delete will request a second confirmation before
  38.           proceeding. Files in subdirectories will be deleted only if
  39.           they pass the filters.
  40.  
  41. INFO    - Activates the File Attribute Editor.  This allows you to 
  42.           rename files, edit AmigaDOS and ZIP file comments and
  43.           change the file attributes (HSPA RWED) using buttons. Once
  44.           changes are made, use the mouse to select the SAVE button
  45.           to store the changes and return to the file list window.
  46.           Select the ABORT button to return to the file list window
  47.           without altering the current selection.  ABORT also cancels
  48.           any pending file selections. Select the QUIT button to
  49.           return to the file list window without altering the current
  50.           selection.
  51.  
  52.           Info also displays the Compressed Size, Compression Method
  53.           and the Compression Ratio if the selected file is inside a
  54.           ZIP file. You may change the filename, comment or
  55.           attributes for any file inside a ZIP file.
  56.  
  57.           If the selected file is a ZIP file, additional information
  58.           will be presented.  This information includes the total 
  59.           uncompressed size, the total compressed size and the ratio
  60.           of compression as well as the number of files in the ZIP.
  61.           You may add a ZIP Comment to the ZIP file. This comment may
  62.           be up to 255 characters lone.
  63.  
  64. DISPLAY - Displays all selected files in the current directory or ZIP
  65.           file.  Each file is displayed in the order it is listed in
  66.           the files window.  Pressing the right mouse button or 
  67.           clicking in the Display Window close-box will advance to 
  68.           the next selected file in the list.
  69.  
  70.           Click the mouse in the top half of the display screen to
  71.           scroll towards the beginning of the file.  Click the mouse
  72.           in the bottom half of screen to scroll towards the end of
  73.           the file. (Or use the Arrow buttons or slider to scroll.)
  74.  
  75. PRINT   - Prints all selected files in the current directory or ZIP 
  76.           file to the selected printer device (PRT: PAR: or SER:).
  77.  
  78.           If no files are selected and PRINTER ECHO is off, PRINT
  79.           prints the file list to the printer.  This is a handy way
  80.           to get a hardcopy of the file list or the ZIP catalog.
  81.         
  82. INCLUDE - Presents a tool that allows you to insert up to three masks
  83.           which will be used to determine which files ARE displayed
  84.           in the files window.  This is a handy way to reduce clutter
  85.           while viewing files or ZIP listings.
  86.  
  87. PALETTE - Presents a tool which allows you to change the colors of
  88.           the screen.  Click on each color button and use the color
  89.           sliders to change that color.  Pressing the OK button will
  90.           enable PKAZIP to use the current selections. Pressing the
  91.           CANCEL button aborts any color pending color changes and
  92.           exits the Palette tool. Pressing the RESET button returns
  93.           the colors to the settings which were active on entry to
  94.           the Palette tool but does not exit the Palette tool.
  95.  
  96. ABORT   - Abort the current operation.
  97.  
  98. UNZIP   - Extracts (decompresses) all selected ZIP files to the
  99.           destination directory specified in the DESTINATION window.
  100.           Decompression rules are specified using the EXTRACT
  101.           pull-down menu.
  102.  
  103. ZIP     - Compresses selected files and adds them to the ZIP file
  104.           specified in the DESTINATION window.  Compression rules are
  105.           specified using the COMPRESS pull-down menu.
  106.  
  107. TEST    - Tests all selected ZIP files by recalculating the 32-bit
  108.           CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) for each file.
  109.  
  110. SEARCH  - Search offers two very POWERFUL and UNIQUE modes:
  111.  
  112.           SEARCH BY COMMENT:
  113.  
  114.                If the COMMENT button is set to display AmigaDOS
  115.                filenotes, then SEARCH will examine all AmigaDOS
  116.                filenotes.  In addition, SEARCH will examine all
  117.                file comments stored with each file in a ZIP
  118.                catalog!
  119.  
  120.           SEARCH BY FILENAME:
  121.  
  122.                If the COMMENT button is set to display AmigaDOS
  123.                filenames, dates, times, and protection bits, then
  124.                SEARCH will examine all AmigaDOS filenames.  In
  125.                addition, SEARCH will examine each filename in a
  126.                ZIP catalog!

  128.           Both search modes offer anchored pattern match (refer to
  129.           WILDCARDS below in MISCELLANEOUS NOTES) to the pattern
  130.           entered in the SEARCH string box:
  131.  
  132.                PATTERN:       MEANING:
  133.                   ?           matches any single character
  134.                   *           matches one or more characters
  135.  
  136.           Any other character must match exactly!  All patterns are
  137.           case insensitive (uppercase = lowercase).
  138.  
  139.           NOTE:
  140.                SEARCH is fully recursive and extends into all
  141.                subdirectories contained in the current directory.
  142.  
  143.                Both search modes examine the information stored
  144.                inside ZIP files. Now, you will not have to extract
  145.                files to locate what you are looking for!
  146.  
  147. PARENT  - Moves to the directory above the current directory.
  148.           Movement is toward the root of the disk. For example, if
  149.           the current directory is DF0:TEST/MANY then pressing PARENT
  150.           will change the current directory to DF0:TEST. If the
  151.           contents of a ZIP file are being displayed, the PARENT
  152.           button will exit the ZIP file and display the normal DOS
  153.           directory listing.
  154.  
  155.           If the current directory does not end in a ':' character
  156.           there will be a / entry in the file listing. Double
  157.           clicking this entry will also move up one directory level.
  158.           Note that this entry can not be selected.
  159.  
  160. COMMENT - Toggles the file list display between file or ZIP comments
  161.           and file displays using size, date and time attributes.  An
  162.           example of the file list display with comments is:
  163.  
  164.           adds buffers to the specified drive   AddBuffers
  165.           allows script files to get input      ask
  166.           allows reassignment of ffs: as dh0:   assigndev

  175. HELP    - Displays the help file.

  189. UP      - This button scrolls the file listing up if there are enough
  190.           files in the list to allow scrolling.
  191.  
  192. DOWN    - This button scrolls the file listing down if there are
  193.           enough files in the list to allow scrolling.
  194.  
  195. LEFT    - If the DESTINATION box contains an entry, this button 
  196.           transfers the contents of the DESTINATION box to the           CURRENT DIRECTORY box.
  197.  
  198. RIGHT   - If the CURRENT DIRECTORY contains an entry, this button
  199.           transfers the contents of the CURRENT DIRECTORY box to the
  200.           DESTINATION directory box..
  201.  
  202. S       - This button swaps the contents of the SOURCE and
  203.           DESTINATION boxes if both the SOURCE and DESTINATION boxes
  204.           have characters in them. If either box is empty, this
  205.           operation is skipped.
  206.  
  207. H       - HOME moves to the beginning of the list or file.
  208.  
  209. U       - PAGEUP moves the list or file backward by one page.
  210.  
  211. D       - PAGEDOWN moves the list or file forward by one page.
  212.  
  213. E       - END moves to the end of the list or file.

  218. EXTRACT -  This menu contains those options used during file 
  219.            de-compression: 
  220.  
  221.            UNCONDITIONAL    -  All selected files are extracted to
  222.                                the destination directory.
  223.  
  224.            NEWER FILES ONLY -  Only files which have newer dates than
  225.                                the destination files are extracted.
  226.  
  227.            ASK IF EXISTS    -  If a file already exists in the 
  228.                                destination directory, prompt the user
  229.                                for permission to over-write it.
  230.  
  231.            USE PATHNAMES    -  Extract files using the full pathname
  232.                                and filename. If the pathname does not
  233.                                exist, this operation will ask you if
  234.                                you want to create it. If you answer
  235.                                YES, the destination directory will be
  236.                                created and the files will be
  237.                                extracted to it. If you answer NO, the
  238.                                file will be skipped.
  239.  
  240.            USE FILENOTES    -  Writes any filenote assigned to a
  241.                                compressed file to the Amiga DOS
  242.                                filenote for that file.
  243.  
  244.           NOTE:  Only USE PATHNAMES and USE FILENOTES are saved using
  245.                  PREFERENCES.
  246.  
  247. COMPRESS - This menu contains those options used during file 
  248.            compression:
  249.  
  250.            UNCONDITIONAL    -  All selected files are compressed and 
  251.                                added to the destination ZIP file.
  252.  
  253.            UPDATE           -  Any selected file which does not exist
  254.                                in the ZIP catalog will be compressed
  255.                                and added to the ZIP file. Any
  256.                                selected file which exists in the
  257.                                catalog but has a newer date/time
  258.                                stamp will be re-compressed and added
  259.                                to the ZIP file.
  260.  
  261.            FRESHEN          -  Only selected files which are already
  262.                                in the ZIP catalog and which have
  263.                                newer date/time stamps are
  264.                                re-compressed and stored in the ZIP
  265.                                file.
  266.  
  267.            CHANGE           -  Compresses selected files that are not
  268.                                in the ZIP catalog and which DO NOT
  269.                                have their Archive bit set. Once the
  270.                                file is compressed and placed in the
  271.                                ZIP file, the Archive bit will be set
  272.                                on the file in the file list.
  273.  
  274.            FORCE SHRINKING  -  Forces all files to be compressed
  275.                                using Shrinking. This is significantly
  276.                                faster than Imploding.
  277.  
  278.            MOVE             -  Delete files after they are compressed
  279.                                and added to the ZIP file. This option
  280.                                may be used in conjunction with the
  281.                                previous compression menu selections.
  282.  
  283.            ENCRYPT          -  As files are compressed and added to
  284.                                the ZIP file, they are encoded so they
  285.                                can not be extracted without the
  286.                                proper password. This function is not
  287.                                active in the intial release.
  288.  
  289.            LONG PATHNAMES   -  Store filenames with the full path_
  290.                                name, less the source drive
  291.                                designation. Example: test is the
  292.                                current directory full path:
  293.                                dh0:cfiles/test/program.c
  294.                                "cfiles/test/program.c" would be used
  295.                                as the filename.
  296.       
  297.            SHORT PATHNAMES  -  Store filenames with pathname relative
  298.                                to the current directory.
  299.  
  300.                                Example: test is the current directory
  301.  
  302.                                full path:  dh0:cfiles/test/program.c
  303.                                "program.c" would be used as the 
  304.                                filename.
  305.  
  306.            USE FILENOTES    -  Amiga DOS filenotes for each
  307.                                compressed file are saved in the ZIP
  308.                                file. 
  309.  
  310.           NOTE:  Only LONG or SHORT PATHNAMES and USE FILENOTES are
  311.                                saved using PREFERENCES.
  312.  
  313. PRINT   - This menu contains options used during printing:
  314.  
  315.           PRT:      - Use the preferences printer
  316.  
  317.           PAR:      - Use the "RAW" parallel printer
  318.  
  319.           SER:      - Use the serial port
  320.  
  321.           ECHO:     - Echo operation results to the printer device.
  322.  
  323.           AUTO FF:  - Issue a form feed between printouts
  324.           
  325. PREFERENCES -  This menu provides selections to change the default
  326.                operation of PKAZIP:
  327.      
  328.           SORT FILE LIST                   
  329.  
  330.                BY NAME      - Sorts the file list alphabetically
  331.                ASCENDING      from A to Z.  Directories are placed
  332.                               at the beginning of the list.
  333.  
  334.                BY NAME      - Sorts the file list alphabetically
  335.                DESCENDING     from Z to A. Directories are placed
  336.                               at the beginning of the list.
  337.  
  338.                BY DATE/TIME - Sorts the file list with the newest
  339.                NEWEST FIRST   files first.  Directories are placed
  340.                               at the beginning of the list.
  341.  
  342.                BY DATE/TIME - Sorts the file list with the oldest
  343.                OLDEST FIRST   files first.  Directories are placed
  344.                               at the beginning of the list.
  345.  
  346.                NONE         - Display files using natural order.
  347.  
  348.           ENABLE FILTERS    - Display filenames which pass the
  349.                               Include and Exclude filters.  
  350.  
  351.           ENABLE SIZING     - Displays the total size of the selected
  352.                               files and directories to make it easy
  353.                               to determine if the selected files and
  354.                               directories fit on the destination
  355.                               drive.
  356.  
  357.                               Filters are active during this command.
  358.  
  359.           DISPLAY             This menu offers two options to show or
  360.                               hide information displayed in the files
  361.                               listing window.  This choice may be
  362.                               saved using the SAVE CHOICES option.
  363.               
  364.                PATHNAMES    - If checked, file pathnames are
  365.                               displayed while viewing the contents of
  366.                               ZIP files. Otherwise, filenames are
  367.                               displayed with without pathnames. If
  368.                               pathnames are being suppressed, the
  369.                               filename will be preceded by a "/"
  370.                               character as a reminder.
  371.  
  372.                ATTRIBUTES   - If checked, file attributes are
  373.                               displayed. Otherwise, file attributes
  374.                               which include time, date, size,
  375.                               comment, etc. are suppressed.
  376.  
  377.           SAVE CHOICES      - Saves choices from the EXTRACT,
  378.                               COMPRESS, PRINT and PREFERENCE menus.
  379.                               The contents of the INCLUDE and EXCLUDE
  380.                               filters, PALETTE choices and state of
  381.                               the COMMENT button are also saved.
  382.  
  383.           LOAD CHOICES      - Loads the saved preferences into
  384.                               PKAZIP.
  385.  
  386.           RESET CHOICES     - Reset preferences back to the factory
  387.                               state.
  388.  
  389.  
  390. ABORT - Aborts operations like COPY, DELETE, DISPLAY, PRINT,
  391.         COMPRESS, EXTRACT and TEST.

  412. Assigning PKTEMP: to an alternate drive creates a temporary ZIP file
  413. at the specified alternate location. This temporary file is used only
  414. in the creation of the ZIP file, and will be automatically deleted
  415. when the process is complete. If you do not assign PKTEMP:, the
  416. temporary file will be created in the T: directory.
  417.  
  418. Double clicking on a directory name will change the current directory
  419. to that directory.  This will display those files found in the new
  420. CURRENT DIRECTORY.
  421.  
  422. Double clicking on a ZIP file will display the list of files that are
  423. contained inside the ZIP file.  Pressing PARENT will return to the
  424. normal AmigaDOS file list.
  425.  
  426. Double clicking on a filename will display that file just as if you
  427. had selected it and pressed the DISPLAY button.  Pressing the right 
  428. mouse button will return the display to the file list.
  429.  
  430. Files are NOT deselected after copying to facilitate moving files
  431. from the Source Directory to the Destination Directory. Once the
  432. files are copied, they can be deleted from the source directory
  433. because they are still marked. If you do not want to delete them,
  434. simply select the CLEAR button to deselect them.
  435.  
  436. Preferences are loaded every time PKAZIP is run.
  437.  
  438. The mouse may also be used to scroll a file in the DISPLAY mode.
  439. Clicking and holding the left mouse button in the top half of the 
  440. display will scroll the file downward while clicking and holding the 
  441. left mouse button in the bottom half of the screen will scroll the 
  442. file upward.
  443.  
  444. The mouse can also be used to control the slider and arrow buttons
  445. in the file display mode.
  446.  
  447. WILDCARDS:  Wildcards are compatible with MS-DOS and UNIX.  The '*' 
  448. references any character and '?' indicates any single character.
  449.  
  450.      Examples:

  452.           ??.c            any two letter file with a .c extension
  453.       ??now*.c            would match xynowben.c
  454.            *.zip          any filename with a .zip extension
  455.            *.??           any filename with a two letter extension
